Porto Santo

Porto Santo Island is known as “the” beach in Madeira archipelago. With 11 kilometers of golden sand facing a suggestive blue sea, Porto Santo has been attracting beach lovers for a long time. But there is more to it than sunbathing and swimming in the sea. Accessible by boat, for those coming from Madeira, or by plane, Porto Santo has some interesting landscaping contrasts. The extensive beach shore on the south, where Vila Baleira (the main urbanisation), is located, contrasts with the north coast, of huge cliffs that fall steeply to the sea.

Der Strand von Porto Santo ist der bekannteste Strand der Inselgruppe Madeira. Mit einer Ausdehnung von 11 Kilometern, der grösste Teil davon bestehend aus goldfarbenem Sand vor einem märchenhaft blauen Meer, ist Porto Santo ein Anziehungspunkt für Strandliebhaber. Aber die goldene Insel hat mehr zu bieten als nur Sonnenbäder und Meer. Porto Santo bietet eine interessante und kontrastreiche Landschaft. Der ausgedehnte Strand, der sich im Süden befindet, an dem auch der Hauptort Vila Baleira liegt, bildet einen starken Kontrast zur Nordküste, mit Steilküsten , die steil zum Meer führen.

L’île de Porto Santo est connue comme “la” plage de l’archipel de Madère. Avec ses 11 kms de long, majoritairement de sable doré et aux eaux turquoise, Porto Santo attire depuis toujours les fans de balnéaire. Mais les bains de soleil ne sont pas les seuls atouts de cette île dorée. La grande étendue de sable au sud où se trouve le village de Vila Baleira, principal centre urbain, contraste avec la côte Nord, aux abruptes falaises tombant sur la mer.
